Designing the Unstable

The idea was movement. The challenge was form.

We weren’t sketching a hero, we were chasing a behavior that would roll perfectly but wouldn’t sit still. It had to respond, bounce, tilt, and recover. A shape that felt alive before it even breathed. So we experimented.

Lopsided forms. Weighted bottoms. Rounded tops. We wanted an imbalance, a kind of intentional awkwardness and the kind that makes you watch what happens next. Eventually, we landed on something strange. Not symmetrical. Not static but full of energy like it was always trying to find its footing. No eyes, no limbs. Just a presence.

It was too early to name it yet. We knew one thing that we had found the first spark of character Not just in how it looked, but in how it moved. This wasn’t about making a perfect model.

It was about creating a form that could tell a story just by standing.
